ALONG THOSE LINES:: STRIPES, GRIDS AND OTKs

Hello Loves!
As my obsession with thigh high boots continue, so does my obsession with white and black. I was extremely  delighted when I came across this striped dress from forever 21 and although it had a very sexy plunging neckline (a little risqué for me), I  knew I had to have it. Playing with patterns, I paired the striped dress with a grid patterned jacket which turned out perfectly.
Try mixing these two patterns for your next styling adventure.  This works well dressed for work, as well as for a more dressy event- as evidenced here. Have fun with it.

The trench

Hello Loves,
Today's post features some of my Fall favorites.
-The Suede Over-the-knee (OTK) boots that are certain to get heads turning; my good ole romper that I wear through the four Seasons; and the cool girl trench that I love to wear in the Fall and yes, Spring too. It would be really sad when I have to stow away this Trench as the brutal Chicago cold comes around. Who am I kidding, it's already here and "the air hurts my face".
Speaking of OTKs, some of you gals shy away from wearing them. Why? too bold, too tall, don't know what to wear them with, or are you just scared?
Don't be. OTK boots are  fun and statement pieces that come in various styles- wedges, flats, and my fave very tall and high heeled. Before you give up on them, try a few out. The trick is finding a height you are comfortable with, as well one that fits your calves/thighs. You don't want to worry about pulling those gorgeous suckers up all the time.
Can't wait to show you more ways to style those OTKs. Stay tuned.

Don't forget to enter the Glossybox  beauty box giveaway on the blog!!

Giveaway: You got Mail!

Hey Guys,
Let's admit it, there is usually an excitement that comes with getting a package in the mail. Not the horrid unsolicited junk mail that annoys you but those little indulgences we often allow ourselves.  Ask my neighbors they are probably accustomed to my monthly excited squeal, followed by "My shoes are here" or "I have a package". Sorry neighbors. It is quite comparable to the pleasure I'm positive Meg Ryan felt when she heard "you've got mail" only better.
This Thanksgiving, in collaboration with Glossybox, we will be giving one lucky reader a chance to squeal with excitement, with a one month free subscription to Glossybox. The box will be filled with five surprise beauty goodies for your indulgence.

How to enter...

1. Leave a comment telling me about your monthly indulgences, as well as your email
2. Follow me on Instagram and tag a friend
3. Like Glossy Box on Facebook

Winner would be announced on Thanksgiving, November 27th.
Happy Friday!
Love, Jenn.

A PLAY ON HOUNDSTOOTH

     Happy Monday!
Well, just in case you don't already know, HOUNDSTOOTH is IN.
I have always been a fan of this pattern and love the challenge of styling it.
For this post, I mixed old and new. The Motojacket in houndstooth is an oldie from way back. I paired it with a dainty Express skirt with bigger houndstooth patterns in comparison to the jacket -for some contrast.
Fortunately matching identical houndstooth patterns actually work well. Wearing a blazer or jacket with an identical pattern as the Express skirt, minimal jewelry and black or red minimalist sandals would create a polished look.

Still hesistant about trying this trend? You can incorporate houndstooth in smaller doses such as with a Purse or Clutch or even some statement houndstooth shoes. I personally would love a houndstooth Coat for Fall/ Winter.
What would you opt for?

High Style in Motor City ::Fashion In Detroit

I don't get excited about much but I was certainly excited about attending "Fashion in Detroit" two Saturdays ago. I got the pleasure of going to this amazing Fashion event showcasing an array of local and national designers; including, headliner, Joe Farris -well known for his appearance on Project Runway.

The ultra chic atmosphere of Motor City Casino's Sound Board provided the perfect backdrop for this elaborate high fashion event. This gorgeous location was later transformed into a huge club for the official FID after-party. This girl can never resist good music and a huge dance floor, so needless to say- I danced the night away. Happy Feet!!!

My gorgeous friend, Momo Hebert was my date for this fashion filled event

Stole a moment with the man of the hour, Joe Farris (center); Channel 7 news anchor, Vic Faust (far right) and Meteorologist, Keenan Smith (left) for a pic.

Attended by local celebs, bloggers and fashionistas, this event spewed with major hot fashion. Sitting catwalk side, I was completely enthralled by the incredible runway action. Here are some of my favorites of the night:

Before the event, I sneaked in some photographs for the blog. I have to say the dress was a last minute decision but a non-brainer. I always manage to feel very confident in red. The cut-outs are my favorite features of this dress, and pleats give a cute playful air to the outfit.

Colorful Reflections:: Maxi Dress

 Happy Sunday!
Hope you guys are having a great labor day weekend so far.
As some of you know, I had a birthday about a week ago. For most of us, a birthday is a time to reflect on our lives so far, to look back on our accomplishments and how they have measured up to our goals. Most of the time, we can be very hard on ourselves. This is especially true for me.

For a change, this year I counted my blessings, and for one day allowed myself to be only thankful, "no regrets", no "what ifs", no "I wish" (expect when I blew out my candles). Just completely at peace. For all of you that wished me a happy one, thank you so much.
